Here are the documents that will be needed for the meeting: Agenda May meeting minutes for approval Treasurer's report Summary of PAC accounts and gaming grants spent Draft Gaming Report & attachment (to be sent to Gaming Branch) Teacher Request Form (to apply for this year's funding) This meeting will be our AGM and we'll be voting on the executive for the upcoming year. We will have several vacant positions, and need volunteers to put their names forward for the following roles:
The volunteer hour commitment for these roles is not particularly large, but they are all really important. Remember, we need a functioning PAC for Tupper to be eligible for gaming grants each year. That's about $20,000 in funding every year that our students would miss out on without a PAC. Please see this post for a brief description of what these roles entail. Hope to see you on Wednesday! Thank you to all the parents who donated prizes and coffee funds for the Staff Appreciation Breakfast! We had some happy Tupper teachers & staff on Friday morning as they assessed their relative chances in each prize draw and picked up their coffee or tea and a pastry. Big thanks also to Libby for providing decorations and helping set up, & Christy for the coffee runs and chalk art outside. We had a grand total of 47 prizes to give away (there was a LOT of wine) so plenty of happy winners! Our PAC teacher rep Dara Hendren shared the following message to parents on behalf of the staff:
"On behalf of the teachers and staff at Sir Charles Tupper Secondary, I would like to thank-you for the breakfast and for the lovely messages of support. We know it has been a challenging year for everyone: parents, students, and staff. Reading the messages brought many tears and smiles of appreciation for many staff members today. We should be giving you breakfast for health checking your children daily, ensuring they wear their masks and all the other things that helped make our community safer. Thank you for recognizing our efforts. " As we come to the end of a school year unlike any other, the Tupper PAC on behalf of our parent community would like to say a heartfelt thank-you to our amazing Tupper teachers, administrators, and support staff. You have continued to show up for our students throughout this year of constant stress and anxiety - and that on top of navigating a first-ever quadmester system and several changes on the fly to the structure of courses and timetables! We deeply appreciate your perseverance through the challenges of this new reality, and we join you in hoping that next September will see a much more normal Tupper world. We've invited parents to add their thanks & thoughts to ours in the comments below.
Thank you all, and best wishes for a relaxing and restful summer! Sincerely, Mary Levitan & Christy Thomas, PAC Co-Chairs, and the Tupper PAC executive Thank you to everyone who has dropped off donations for the Staff Appreciation Breakfast! If you still want to contribute, it's not too late. We are accepting items until Monday, May 31st. See this post for more information on how to help.
If anyone is planning to donate but hasn't picked anything up yet, the biggest remaining need is for more Caffe Artigiano gift cards to provide coffee at the breakfast. (Any excess gift cards will be used as draw prizes!) Contact June at [email protected] if you have any questions about donations. Thanks! Grade 11 Tupper student Deeya Parekh has coordinated with the YMCA to offer a 2 day webinar aimed at educating youth about the realities of gangs before they are approached or recruited to join. "An Ex-Gangster's Tale: Journey, Risks, and Impacts" will be held on May 29th & 30th and offers an opportunity to listen and engage with former gang members on their stories. The first day is just for youth age 11-16, and the second day for parents & all concerned community members.
For more information including the list of speakers, see the flyer for the event here. Registration in advance is required. To register, click here for youth age 11-16, and here for parents. |
