Academic Year 2019/2020 has been unprecedented in all sorts of ways. Among the challenges we have faced were many connected with the education of our students. As a council of parents, Tupper PAC would like to bear witness to the indefatigable industriousness, resourcefulness and professionalism of the educators of Tupper Secondary School. As a small token of our appreciation we have invited all parents to post their tributes on this page. Well done, and thank you, to all our teachers and staff!

Thank you to all Tinsae's teachers - I appreciated so much that you sent emails with messages like "prioritize your mental health over French" and "we are very mindful of how this is affecting you and your family." I'm impressed at how you powered through the tech challenges, and I'm grateful for all your efforts. I hope you are able to get some well earned rest this summer.

Tupper teachers and staff, you have been outstanding through the 12 years that my kids attended Tupper. I can’t thank you enough for everything you have taught them. This year, the pandemic put you to the test, and you still found a way to celebrate the grade 12s with a meaningful graduation. Thank you for caring so much about our kids - you have given them wings.

To all the Tupper teachers and staff, but especially those supporting my Chloe B in grade 11 this year, thank you so much. Last week she told me she was getting graded assignments back at 1 and 2 a.m.! You have your own families, children out of school, elderly parents, and restless teens and yet you’re still so amazing and devoted at this awful time. You all deserve an amazing summer. Keep safe. A big thanks to all the teachers at SCT. Your dedication and passion set you apart. Both are very much appreciated – by both students and parents. Special thanks to those who make the extra effort to support all the extracurricular activities at the school – teams, clubs, committees, events, and more. And those who go above and beyond to help students achieve academically.

The last few months have been so very challenging for many people. I have two kids at Tupper and am so impressed with the level of care and teaching they received from all of their teachers all the time but especially in these last few months. You all really embraced the challenge, were incredibly creative, and focused first and foremost on the health and wellbeing of your students. I am so grateful for all of your hard work, it was tough to figure this all out, and each of you have your own lives that were affected by this pandemic as well. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!!

Thank-you to all the wonderful Staff, Teachers & Admin at Tupper!! We SO appreciate all of your efforts this (crazy) Spring - Virtual & Otherwise. Ry & Eloise were able to continue to learn and structure their time this Spring thanks to your dedication & energy. (I had a couple of good laughs at Mr Jay's ingenious worksheets but was no help at all with Chem 11 - has high school science gotten REALLY hard or am I just getting dumber?! Maybe don't answer that...)

Thank you to all the teaching and support staff who showed amazing ability to pivot in the wake of a significant shift in delivery method! Elio and Aisha were both encouraged to engage and put their best foot forward despite the new setting thanks to all your hard work! This period has seen the emergence of new strategies for learning and may we find the wisdom to become better humans through the struggles... Thank you so much!

I was moved and grateful at all the efforts put into making graduation a special year for the grade 12's. It made a huge difference to see all the teachers out and cheering for the grads and bringing their enthusiasm and energy. To think that you did this ALL DAY LONG! And you turned the building around Tupper into a special zone - a runway, podium, a photo studio, a cheering zone... a tangible space of caring. It can't have been an easy transition from teaching in the classroom face and yet you all showed up for our kids. Thank you for that. We don't take you for granted!

THANK YOU, Tupper Teachers and Staff! When Otis was little, he asked me whether a caterpillar could choose not to become a butterfly, and he felt the same way about graduating high school. You amazing people took him on in the full throes of teen-hood and told him stories of your own metamorphoses that have inspired and informed him. You've spent extra time and energy to help us keep him on track and in school, and here he is, spreading his wings!! Tupper is famous around this city because of YOU and your collective energy for your students and school.

Thanks to all of Shayel and Aliyah's teachers for everything you've done for the girls. I would especially like to extend gratitude for this particularly difficult time working so hard to maintain continuity of education through the pandemic. I also want to thank everyone who produced such a LOVELY graduation this year. I know the level of organization and orchestration that was required and all the hard work that went into making it a grad to remember. Shayel and our family were so touched. Finally, I want to thank our engineers and office staff (especially Debbie and Febe) who often go unrecognized but who have continued to labour tirelessly for the safety and well-being of our kids. I wish I could hug each and every one of you and I dearly missed putting on the thank you breakfast this year but I hope these comments make you feel all the love and care we feel for you and our Tupper Tigers community that I am so very proud of.

Tupper parents/guardians, what lovely and kind words. They are very much appreciated and felt! We are lucky to get to be with such a great group of 1100 kids on a regular basis. Grad parents/guardians, so very nice to see you, to be able to have a little chat, and to share in the joy during such an important milestone. Congrats grads, and thank you again parents/guardians. <3
