**Update - the hearing before the Board of Variance has been postponed until January 14, 2020.**
Our PAC was recently notified that a proposed cannabis retail store is seeking a variance to the City of Vancouver bylaw (Sec 11.6.2) that prohibits cannabis outlets from operating within 300m of the nearest property line of a school. The company is seeking relaxation of that rule as their proposed location is 280m from Tupper's grounds. A copy of the company's appeal was obtained by the PAC and can be found here. The specific references to the location of the store in relation to Tupper can be found on pages 14 and 25. At the November PAC meeting, a motion was carried in support of sending a letter to the Board of Variance expressing the PAC's opposition to a variance being granted. If any Tupper parents or community members wish to express views about this request for a variance to the 300m rule, emails can be sent to [email protected] . The hearing of this request is on Tuesday, November 19 at 2:15 pm at City Hall, so any written feedback to the Board of Variance would need to be made prior to that date.

Thanks for this information. I was not aware that there were city hall restrictions as to proximity to schools. I am curious how Hobo cannabis on Main Street (4296 Main Street) was able to open and if there is something the PAC can do to express our displeasure. Warmly

Hobo is outside of the 300m proximity restriction.
